The early 1980s. Northern Soul had gone underground again. Wigan Casino shut in 1981, Blackpool Mecca shut in 1982, and Rotherham Clifton Hall also shut in 1982.
Fortunately for us in the North West, Morecambe Central Pier opened in 1983 (but there had been some Alldayers in the 70s).
Wigan was latterly oldies Blackpool disco, Rotherham funky Morecambe was a bit of everything, after the Pier, the Carlton ( now Alhambra) carried on for some while.
We intend to relive the sounds and atmosphere of the 1980s-90s events in the Morecambe soul scene. Hope you can join us.
